80GB PS3 Hardware Specification The new 80GB PS3
priced at £299 is definitely good value for money. With
enough capacity to store approximately 20,000 songs you
won't run out of memory too quickly. Yes, the PS3 is
priced a lot higher than competitor's consoles but it
does have some unique features that neither Microsoft
nor Nintendo have included in their gaming machines.
Firstly there is the Hi-definition Blu-Ray DVD player
that it has included in the console. With HD DVD dying a
death BluRay is the format of choice for movies now. Its
not just the PS3 hardware that you have to take to
consider the great PS3 games and accessories as well.

Firstly the controller gives the gamer a choice of
different gaming experience. For example in a racing
game such as Motor storm the user has the chance to
either use the analogue sticks to control the car or
they can turn the six axis feature on to control the car
by steering with the controller giving the user a more
realistic experience. Then take into account that the
PS3 has many exclusive games not available on other
consoles. For instance Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the
Patriots rated 10 out of 10 by official game critics.
The PS3 may be priced higher then other consoles but
given what's inside it's still great value for money.
Manufacturer subsidies Games console buyers have
always been shielded from the true price of the console
by the subsidy that the manufacturers have provided. In
a nutshell, what Sony and Microsoft are doing is making
a loss on the console and a profit on the games. The
theory is that you may only buy one console, but you
could potentially buy hundreds of PS3
Games.
PC gamers know the true price of these components, a
top end graphics card alone could easily cost over £300.
If you look at what goes into making these games
consoles, they are leagues ahead of their predecessors.
These are multi-processor systems with stacks of memory,
high end HiDef graphics cards and hard disk storage. The
PS3 even includes a HiDef Blu-ray player, this alone
could set you back £300. If you were to look at building
the equivalent gaming PC, you could easily spend over
£800.
